AV Shield
This competition is the mainstay of the Athletics Victoria summer season. Competitions are usually held on Saturdays with athletes arranged into races and events based on their seeded performances (times / distances). The current format includes 10 rounds of competition plus a final spread across the summer. Each Saturday athletes have the opportunity to compete in all track and field events across 2 metropolitan and 3 country venues.
It allows athletes to compete and score points for their club with their efforts contributing to an overall team result

Cross Country & Road Racing
Cross country (XCR) is held throughout the winter months and includes both individual and relay events. There are a variety of races held over different distances and terrains, with individual athlete results contributing to the overall team score. Some of the events are held in regional areas, others are more local, which encourages a team commitment.

Milers Club
The competition arranged by distance athletes for distance athletes! The distance runners love the VMC competitions! Athletes are seeded into races based on their performances and the entire program is arranged to help runners achieve PBs. Many races include pacemakers to set the tempo and there are incentives for the best performance of the meet and the achievement of fast times. The competitions are held mid-week throughout summer in the evening over distances ranging from 800m – 3000m.

High Velocity Club
High Velocity Club is similar to Milers Club but for the sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers. There are races over 100m, 200m and 400m, LJ, TJ and hurdles. Athletes are arranged into events based on their seeded performances to encourage close competition. These events are usually held mid-week in the evenings or the occasional weekend.

AV Throwers
These competitions are, as the name suggests, specifically for the throwers. They are also held either mid-week or weekend and include SP, discuss, javelin and hammer.

Victorian Race Walking Club
VRWC has been around for many years and offers events specifically for walkers. These include track races, road races, individual and teams events throughout the full calendar year.

Rare Air
Rare Air competitions are for the dare-devils of the athletics fraternity, the pole vaulters. The events are held at both metropolitan and regional venues throughout the summer and provide the pole-vaulters the opportunity to test themselves in an environment conducive to achieving ‘rare air’.
